Council Counters Request for $2.2M in Legacy Fund for Snow Debts

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A $2.2 million request for Legacy money to cover costs debts incurred by huge snowfalls last winter failed to pass in committee Tuesday night at Fort Wayne City Council.

But, a plan to use $1.7 million in Legacy money and the city paying $500,000 in the budget did pass.

While council members reasoned bills must be paid and serviced provided, using Legacy money is not the best option.

The city is expected to recoup about $280,000 in FEMA money from the winter weather. In General Session, City Council is expected to vote next week.
