Council to Vote on Reconsidering Collective Bargaining Ordinance

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A resolution that would end collective bargaining for non-public safety workers could advance to the Mayor after a city council meeting tonight.

Two weeks ago city council voted to pass one of three ordinances that would end union negotiation for city workers. At that meeting, councilman John Shoaff filed a written request asking the body to reconsider the vote.

If council agrees, the measure would go back to committee. If the reconsideration vote fails, the original vote will stand and advances for Mayor Tom Henry's signature.

From the start, Henry has voiced his opposition to any change in collective bargaining.
