County income up, poverty rate down

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County residents seem to be doing better, financially speaking.

The US Census Bureau has released household income and poverty rate estimates for 2017, and the median household income for Allen County went up 2.5% to $52,661, according to the Journal Gazette.

That’s a jump of about $5,000 since 2010, although the county’s median household income is still below both the national and state numbers of $60,336 and $54,134 respectively.

Allen County’s poverty rate is also down from 15% in 2016 to 13.1% last year.
