Crews Respond to Report of Fire at Allen County Jail

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fire crews were called to the Allen County Jail shortly before 9am this morning after a report of smoke.

Initially there were reports of a small fire in one of the cells, but the Allen County Sheriff's Department says it turns out a spark from a maintenance worker's grinder had gotten into the ventilation system and caused smoke to fill one of the cell blocks. A number of inmates were evacuated while workers cleared the air; nobody was hurt.
