At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, Public Safety Director Rusty York and Police Chief Garry Hamilton gave a report for the city’s Uniform Crime Report statistics, which the Journal Gazette reports are certain crimes reported to the FBI every year. The numbers show that total crime increased by 2.7 percent, property crime increased 2.8 percent, and violent crimes increased 2 percent.
