FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – One person is in critical condition after a crash on Lake Avenue Tuesday.

Fort Wayne Police were called to the intersection of Maysville Road and Lake Avenue around 2:30 p.m. to reports of a crash with injuries involving a moped.

Once at the scene, emergency personnel found a man down in the roadway suffering from head trauma. He was unresponsive.

The man was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

Witnesses report the victim was traveling eastbound on Lake Avenue when he appeared to lose control of his moped and sideswiped a westbound passenger car.

Lake Avenue was shut down for two hours as the crash was being cleared. The incident is still under investigation.
