DeKalb County crash leaves one dead

WATERLOO, Ind. (WOWO): An Auburn woman was killed in a crash in Waterloo Wednesday evening.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the intersection of County Road 16 and State Road 427 at about 6:45pm for a two-vehicle crash.

Police believe 88-year-old Phyillis Reardon of Auburn ran the stop sign and pulled her vehicle onto State Road 427, driving directly into a vehicle driven by 40-year-old John Bassett of Butler.

Bassett was airlifted from the scene for treatment at an area hospital and is reportedly in stable condition. Reardon was pronounced dead at the scene. Both vehicles were totaled.
