Detours in Place for Downtown Angola Reconstruction Project

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO): Major reconstruction started Monday morning in downtown Angola. During the project, crews will be updating Monument Circle by removing and replacing existing traffic circle cubing, relocating street lights, installing new irrigation systems, and improving landscaping.

While reconstruction is in progress, traffic will not be able to enter the public square. U.S. 20 will be detoured around downtown; drivers can take Williams St. to Mill St. to McKinley St.

Southbound SR 127 traffic will be detoured to the west over Mill and McKinley streets, and to the east over Mill and Williams streets.

Northbound South Wayne St. will be detoured to the west over South and Darling streets, and to the east over South and John streets.

The former Wendy’s site will be available for public parking.

The contractors must re-open all routes by 5:00 pm on Friday, October 2.
