BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Indiana University is offering free vaccinations to students, faculty and staff after a fifth case of mumps was confirmed on its Bloomington campus.
The school said in a news release Monday that the fifth mumps case was confirmed Friday. Officials had said Friday that four mumps cases were identified at the Bloomington campus, while one was identified at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
The Herald-Times reports free vaccinations will be available Wednesday and Thursday at the Indiana Memorial Union. Diana Ebling, medical director at the IU Health Center, said the state health department can provide more vaccines for a later date depending on demand.
Butler University in Indianapolis is requiring all students and employees to get booster shots against mumps, saying nine students have been diagnosed with the disease.
