FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Memorial Coliseum's trademark fighter jet is back on patrol. After a makeover crews placed the F-84 on a pedestal in a new veterans plaza at the arena.

The area itself includes small memorials and the anchor from the Battleship USS Indiana near the intersection of Parnell Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard.

The jet was temporarily removed in June and underwent renovations including a new wrap. The wrap commemorates its original camouflage paint scheme. The jet was flown by the commander of Fort Wayne's Air National Guard base. The plane was in use from the late 1940's to the 1960's.

Officials say they've planning the new area for more than a decade.  When complete, they say it will serve as a living tribute for the men and women who served in the military.

A dedication is scheduled for Veterans Day, November 7.
