Fire Crews at King’s Island After Ride Smoke

MASON, Ohio (AP): A city official says fire crews responding to reports of a fire at a theme park found heavy smoke inside an indoor roller coaster ride building.

A city of Mason spokeswoman says 18 people were exposed to the smoke at the Kings Island ride. She said two were treated medically at the scene, but not transported.

City spokeswoman Jennifer Trepal says fire crews determined an electrical motor was the source of the smoke, but wasn't on fire.

Power was shut off to the motor, and the building was cleared and was being ventilated.

Multiple crews responded after a call just before 3 p.m. EDT Monday concerning the indoor roller coaster Flight of Fear, which dates back two decades.

Kings Island didn't immediately release any information.
