Former State Trooper Acquitted in Slayings Faces 2 Civil Suits

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WOWO): A southern Indiana man and former State Trooper acquitted in the killings of his wife and two children after spending 13 years in prison for their murders still faces two civil lawsuits filed by his late wife's parents.

Frank and Janice Renn's suits are aimed at preventing former son-in-law David Camm from recovering an estimated $625,000 in life insurance and 401K funds from his family's deaths.

Those suits had been put on hold pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings against Camm, but Renn family attorney Nick Stein says now that the criminal case has concluded with a central Indiana jury finding Camm not guilty of the murders, those civil cases will move forward.

Camm's lawyer, David Mosley, says he'll let Stein make the next move.
