FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Fire Department rescued a man from a river in less than 10 minutes Wednesday afternoon.

Rescuers where called to the river below the Columbia Street bridge, where the St. Joseph and St. Marys river join the Maumee River, at 1:26 p.m. Firefighters arrived to the scene about three minutes later, according to the fire department.

When firefighters arrived, they found a man in the water clinging to a bridge abutment.

A harness was lowered from the top of the bridge and towed the victim closer. Then the dive team pulled the victim to shore.

The identity of the man or his condition hasn’t been released. It’s not clear how he fell into the river.
