FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Housing Authority is getting $128,000 award from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Authority announced Tuesday.

HUD says the money represents a $75-million commitment to the Family Self-Sufficiency Program, which is geared toward creating programs that help residents pursue education and employment opportunities.

It’s the second piece of good news the Authority has received this week: they’re also getting $1.2-million in rental housing tax credits from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority to support the construction of River’s Edge.

The River’s Edge project is permanent supportive housing set to be built on Spy Run Avenue near IPFW, dedicated toward homeless and at-risk individuals and families with disabilities.
