FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): More growth at the Fort Wayne International Airport.

The airport is adding a new jet bridge in its efforts to accommodate growing passenger traffic.

Executive Director of Airports Scott Hinderman tells WOWO news that the new bridge will be used for passengers on Gate 4, which is on their ground level, which doesn't have jet bridges. “The bridge on Gate 4 allows us to better utilize that space…use it for more boarding and provide that same level of customer service to stay out of the elements while you board.”

Gate 4 is also going to be used more while jet bridges on gates 7 and 8 are refurbished later this year and gates 5 and 6 are refurbished next year.

Hinderman says airport traffic is up 15% through July of this year alone.
