Fort Wayne to Break Ground on New Park

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne officials will be breaking ground on a new park tomorrow.

Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll tells WOWO News Franklin School Park is dedicated to a former landmark:

“There was an old school there, called Franklin Elementary School, which hadn't been occupied for thirty years. It was also the site of the old police training academy. The City was able to acquire that with virtually no cost, and the Park Board agreed to convert it into a park if it was 'development ready.' The citizens really got together and organized, came up with a real organized approach… it's a model project.”

There will be a special groundbreaking ceremony Thursday morning at 11:00 am at 1903 Saint Mary's Avenue.
