Fort Wayne woman charged with identity fraud

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman is facing federal identity theft charges.

Acting US Attorney Clifford Johnson announced Wednesday that 34-year-old Erin Clowser has been charged with stealing mail, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Clowser allegedly took both mail that had been delivered but not yet picked up by addressees, as well as mail that was outgoing in boxes with the flags up before postal carriers were able to get to it. She then allegedly converted stolen checks for her own personal use, as well as racked up $50,000 in charges on someone else’s debit card.

The thefts all took place in the 46845 zip code area, just north of the Fort Wayne city limits.
