FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman has been serving as a delegate for the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Philadelphia this week.

Michelle Chambers tells WOWO News what it was like to be there for Hillary Clinton’s historic nomination as the first major party female candidate for President:

“It was amazing. The energy from the Indiana delegates was absolutely overwhelming. It was an historic… I call it a ‘herstory’ history moment. It was a complete honor.”

Chambers adds she’s hopeful the “Bernie or bust” crowd, delegates who supported Bernie Sanders and, at times, booed the mere mention of Clinton’s name, will eventually unify with the rest of the party behind Clinton as she prepares for a November showdown with Republican Donald Trump, Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein.

“They are a very passionate group of individuals. I feel like they just don’t get it. We need to unify the party.”
