FW City Council Approves Budget

The Fort Wayne City Council has given their approval of the 2013 budget which calls for them to tap into a bit of the legacy fund. The 140 million dollar budget originally had a better than 5.5% property tax increase; however after coming up with another plan, they have decided to tap into the interest that will be gained from the legacy fund and some cash reserves, which will keep your property taxes in check. Mayor Tom Henry was opposed originally to using any money from that fund because he wanted to use it for project he felt would improve the city.  The City Council had a problem with that; they didn’t think raising your taxes when we had the money was a good idea.
