FWHA plans two large construction projects

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Housing Authority has a couple of big construction projects planned for the next year.

Construction is expected to start in 2017 for an elderly housing project at hat was once Hillcrest School on Tillman Road, as well as a “supportive housing project,” according to director George Guy. He tells the Journal Gazette there are about 9,000 people on the housing authority’s waiting list.

They plan on applying for tax credits to cover the projects’ costs in November.

A public hearing on the Housing Authority’s plan is set for March 7th at 9am at their offices on Hanna Street.
