INDIANA, (WOWO): Governor Mike Pence has sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging him to repeal the excise tax on medical devices.
The 2.3% tax went into effect on January 1st as part of the Affordable Care Act and Governor Pence says it has since had a negative impact on the economy and jobs across the country. Specifically in Indiana, he says, repealing the medical device tax would allow companies to expand and grow jobs.
He also says that the industry should be allowed to innovate and grow without being hampered by an industry specific tax. The average jobs in Indiana medical device companies pay 56 percent more than the average wage in Indiana.
