Henry’s Parental Leave proposal stalls

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council put the brakes on a proposal to give city staffers paid parental leave.

Mayor Tom Henry had proposed the policy, which would give non-union employees who are new parents up to three weeks of paid time off. It would also apply to new adoptions.

The Council decided to put off a decision on the proposal at least until October, according to the Journal Gazette, which lines up with when the Mayor’s annual city budget is submitted for approval.

City employees are currently entitled to parental leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act, but that time is unpaid.

Good! Why should taxpayers pay for this? Save up your vacation/sick time and use that. Plan ahead.
