Hope remains for Regional Cities funding

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): There’s still hope for a push to fully fund three Regional Cities Fund grants announced last year.

Lawmakers have until March 10th to wrap up business for this session, and so far an attempt to get $42-million in extra funding approved has been stuck in committee. Now the money has been added to a bill that would also provide an extra check for public employee retirees, according to the Journal Gazette, making it now active in discussions in both the House and Senate.

Fort Wayne, Evansville and South Bend were all chosen in December 2015 to get $42-million in Regional Cities funding, but lawmakers had only prepared to pay for two winners, not three.
