I&M Restores Power to 4700 Customers in Dowtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): On Monday night, about 4,700 I&M customers were without power in downtown Fort Wayne and areas south of town.

The outage was caused by a pole fire and power was restored around 9:30 p.m. to the entire service area.

If you're an I&M customer, they're now offering a text and email service to notify you about any homes or businesses affected in your area.

Customers enrolled in I&M ON THE GO – Mobile Alerts will receive a notification when an outage has been reported in their area and will continue to get immediate updates as I&M crews determine the outage cause and predict when power is expected to be restored.

You can register for the alerts on the I&M website at http://www.indianamichiganpower.com/

Here at WOWO, any breaking weather and traffic alerts can be sent directly to your cell by texting the word NEWS to 4-6-8-6-2.
