IN Unemployment Rate Drops Below 8% for First Time since 2008

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Indiana’s unemployment rate has dropped to 7.5 percent, which is the first time since November of 2008 that the rate has been below 8 percent. Governor Mike Pence released a statement saying, “I welcome the news that Indiana’s unemployment rate has dropped to 7.5 percent…it is a testament to the resilience of the hard-working people of Indiana, the businesses of our state and the policies that we have been embracing during these difficult times.” He also attributed the news to “fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and less red tape.” But Governor Pence says there is still work to be done, and “there are still far too many Hoosiers struggling in this economy.”
