NETWORK INDIANA_ (WOWO): The Indianapolis man convicted in the Indiana Black Expo shootings is now facing new charges.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry says he‘s filed new charges against Shamus Patton. Patton is now charged with six counts of forgery for allegedly falsifying signatures of business managers on his work release documents.

This comes after Patton was arrested following a police chase last week. Authorities say Patton had violated his work release. Now, the latest charges state Patton got work release passes on the condition that he use the time to look for work and submit applications to potential employers.

Curry says Patton submitted paperwork that required the signatures of employers he contacted. However, Patton is accused of forging signatures from six businesses from June 10th through June 17th.

Patton had been sentenced to eight years following the shooting spree at Indiana Black Expo three years ago, but got early release for good behavior. He‘s set for a hearing on the new charges before Judge Grant Hawkins at 9 a.m. August 13th.
