WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP): Indiana farmers whose spring planting work had been stymied by the state's cool spring are making progress planting their corn crops thanks to warmer, drier weather.
 
       The weekly crop report from the federal government says 8 percent of Indiana's corn crop had been planted by Sunday. That's up from the previous week's 1 percent, but still well behind the five-year average of 26 percent by late April.
 
       Yet Indiana farmers are doing better than a year ago, when they had only planted about 1 percent of their corn acreage.
 
       The new report says that while many farmers took advantage of warmer, drier conditions in the past week to kick off their planting work, others held off because cool, wet weather is in the forecast for the next several days.
