Indiana inmate charged with raping a 10-year-old girl 25 years ago…

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) _ A northern Indiana prosecutor says a convicted child molester due to be released from prison in three months is being charged in the rape of a 10-year-old girl 25 years ago.

Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill said Monday that 50-year-old Robert Quinn faces up to 90 more years in prison if he’s convicted of the new charges of rape, child molesting and criminal confinement.

The Elkhart Truth and South Bend Tribune report the case gained new attention after the victim asked investigators for an update on her case in 2011.

Hill says a DNA sample collected from the victim at the time of the crime matched Quinn’s.

Quinn is imprisoned at New Castle Correctional Facility in eastern Indiana for violating parole on a 2005 child molesting conviction in Elkhart County.
