Indiana Judge Frees Man in Home Robbery Crash

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A southwestern Indiana judge has freed a man who pleaded guilty in connection with a car-crash fatality that followed a home-invasion robbery.
 

<div>The Evansville Courier & Press reports a Vanderburgh Circuit Court judge sentenced 42-year-old Ira Beumer on Friday to two years, time he's already served.

 
Beumer pleaded guilty in March to criminal recklessness. He had faced murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery charges.
 
Prosecutors say in February 2012 Beumer rammed his truck into a car full of men who had just robbed him at gunpoint, pistol-whipped him in his home and threatened to kill his wife.
 
That crash killed 22-year-old passenger Antuan Jenkins. Three other men in the car were convicted of breaking into Beumer's home.
 
WFIE-TV reports Beumer read a letter to the court expressing regret and remorse
