INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO) — The Indiana Latino Institute has received a $499,839 grant from the Indiana Youth Institute to strengthen programs for young people and expand the nonprofit’s organizational capacity.
The funding comes through Strengthening Youth Programs in Indiana, an initiative launched by Lilly Endowment Inc. in 2023 to help youth-serving organizations improve support for the academic, physical and social well-being of children ages 5 to 18.
The grant will support the Indiana Latino Institute’s work in educational attainment, leadership development, college and career readiness, mentorship and community engagement.
The organization also plans to invest in staff, improve program delivery, strengthen outcome measurement and support its long-term sustainability.
“We are grateful for this investment in the Indiana Latino Institute and in the young people we serve,” said Andrew Peñalva, the organization’s president and CEO. “This grant will allow us to strengthen the systems, programs, and partnerships that help youth thrive and succeed.”
The Indiana Latino Institute was one of 168 youth-serving organizations awarded grants through the initiative. The grants total more than $40 million.
The Indiana Latino Institute is a statewide nonprofit focused on supporting Latino youth, families and communities through education, workforce development, leadership development, health initiatives and civic engagement.
