Indiana Legislature Prioritizes Tax Relief and Affordable Living in 2026

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO)— Indiana House Majority Floor Leader Matt Lehman says the Republican-led legislature will focus the 2026 session on reducing costs for Hoosier families. Lawmakers plan to target expenses related to housing and energy, building on more than one billion dollars in tax relief approved last year.

Lehman says maintaining fiscal responsibility and a strong economy remains a top priority as lawmakers navigate the short session. He also pledged to continue work on healthcare reforms, aimed at keeping more money in residents’ paychecks while improving access and affordability.

The House Majority Leader noted that time will be limited, but said Republican lawmakers are committed to ensuring practical solutions that help Hoosiers manage daily living costs and maintain economic stability.
