Indiana Part of Multi-State Drug Enforcement Project

Indiana is part of a 6-State Trooper Project that focuses on criminal patrol and marijuana enforcement. The multi-state project begins this Thursday and extends through Sunday, September 28th. State police troopers are encouraged to coordinate enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol, and intelligence sharing.

Officers will focus on “high-visibility” efforts to remove drugs from state roadways. According to a press release, The Ohio State Highway Patrol alone made 5,664 total drug arrests during the first six months of 2014 and seized over 3,200 pounds of marijuana.

Other state police departments involved in the 4-day project include Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
