MUNCIE, Ind. (AP): Indiana's environmental agency is suing an auto parts dealer who was ordered last year to pay a $10,000 fine and clean up automotive fluids and other materials at his Muncie business.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management claims in its suit that Westside Used Auto Parts owner Wayne Handshoe has ignored an order last year from IDEM Commissioner Tom Easterly to pay the fine and clean up automotive fluids and automotive shredder fluff from his business.

Handshoe is also accused of failing to remove mercury switches from old vehicles that were being crushed at the site.

He told The Star Press last year his business and the surrounding area was contaminated with pollution from a former Muncie plant shuttered in 2006 and demolished soon afterward.
