Indiana Trooper Arrested in Illinois on Sex Charges

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): An Indiana State Police officer has been placed on unpaid leave after his arrest in Illinois on charges alleging that he had sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Captain David Bursten says officer Isaac Martinez was arrested Friday in Morris, Illinois, by state police detectives after a more than monthlong investigation following an anonymous tip.

Martinez was being held in Illinois as he awaits extradition to Marion County.

Martinez faces two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor alleging sex acts and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor alleging sexual touching.

Martinez is a 5 1/2-year state police officer who had been assigned to road patrol duties in Indianapolis. He was placed on unpaid leave Sept. 23 as the investigation progressed.
