Indiana Trooper Hurt when Semi Crashes into Cruiser

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Police say a state trooper was injured when a semitrailer crashed into his cruiser as he was stopped along an Indianapolis highway helping a motorist.

State police say Senior Trooper Charles Taylor was seated in his patrol car that was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 865 when the crash happened Tuesday morning.

Police say the semi driver lost control on the slick roadway and ran into trooper's car, shoving it forward into the other stopped vehicle. Taylor was taken to a hospital with back and neck pain, while the other stopped motorist suffered similar injuries.

The semi driver wasn't hurt. He was given traffic tickets for driving too fast for the road conditions and not yielding to an emergency vehicle.
