Indiana Unemployment Rate Remains Lower Than National Average

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) — The state’s unemployment rate in September remained significantly lower than the national average.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported the September unemployment rate at just 3.7 percent, compared to the national rate of 4.4 percent.

Indiana’s labor force participation rate stands strong at 63.7 percent.

The state also saw private employment rise by 5,100 jobs from the previous month.

Job growth was led by the Professional and Business Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Manufacturing sectors.

As of late September, Indiana had over 88,000 open job postings statewide.
