Indianapolis Awarded National Mayor’s Conference

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Indianapolis will host the U.S. Conference of Mayors 84th Annual Meeting next year.

Conference Trustee and Mayor Greg Ballard announced today (Tues) that the four-day conference will take place next June 24th-27th at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis.

Visit Indy President and CEO Leonard Hoops says the conference is the 81st largest convention for the city and has an economic impact of about $1 million.

Mayor Ballard says the conference will help put the Circle City in the national spotlight during the presidential election next year and the candidates' tendency to attend the conference.
  
Some 300 city leaders are expected to attend. The U.S. Conference of Mayors is is a non-partisan organization of cities with populations higher than 30,000.
