Indianapolis Officer Badly Hurt in Crash with Semi

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Authorities say an Indianapolis police officer was badly hurt when a squad car collided with a semitrailer.

The crash happened Friday morning on Washington Street near Washington Square Mall on the city's east side.

Witnesses say the semi pulling a boat on a flatbed trailer was unable to stop for a red light and hit the front end of the squad car as it was turning left into a shopping plaza.

Police say the officer was taken to a hospital in serious condition. The semi driver wasn't hurt.
