INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say two people were shot in what appears to be a murder and attempted suicide on the city's south side.

Police say they were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday with reports of someone being shot. When officers arrived they found someone officers said appeared to have been shot in the head. That person was pronounced dead at the scene. A man was found nearby with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the face.

He was taken to Eskenazi Health where he was listed in critical condition.

Police say the investigation is continuing.
