Inmate Corralled after Brief Escape

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It's been a busy day for an Allen County Jail inmate.

Twenty-one year old Tracey Salter started the morning as a suspect in an alleged domestic dispute around 1:30 this morning on the city's north side.  Then he fled to an apartment to the south side and barricaded himself inside forcing a standoff with police. After using an explosive device, police were able to gain entry where he surrendered.

Then this morning, just before noon, while on a visit to St. Joseph Hospital he escaped briefly. He ultimately was corralled after jumping into the St. Mary's River.

He's being held on several charges, including attempted robbery.
