BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Indiana University’s director of student ethics has resigned after allegations he sexually assaulted a woman at a conference in December.

IU said in a statement Friday that Jason Casares “has tendered his resignation effective immediately.” IU said it would have no additional comment because Casares’ departure is a personnel matter.

Casares was hired by IU in 2011 as the school’s student ethics officer and a deputy Title IX coordinator.

The school placed him on administrative leave in early February.

Casares’ attorney did not respond to either an email or a voicemail seeking comment on his behalf.

An IU professor emeritus has been tapped to review 18 sexual misconduct cases from the past academic year that went to hearings where Casares sat on that hearing panel.
