BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis says one of its students has a confirmed case of mumps, bringing to three the number of college campuses with confirmed cases of the contagious disease.

An email sent out by the school Thursday says administrators have been working with the Marion County Health Department and the infected student to identify and notify anyone who has had close contact with the student.

Earlier this month, three cases of mumps were confirmed at Butler University in Indianapolis and two cases were confirmed at Indiana University in Bloomington.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says mumps symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, loss of appetite, and swollen and tender salivary glands. It says the virus can be spread it by coughing, sneezing, talking and other means.
