IUPUI Welcomes New Chancellor on Tuesday

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): IUPUI has a new chancellor.

Dr. Nasser Paydar is being installed as the university's fifth chancellor during a campus ceremony Tuesday. Paydar says during his term he hopes to emphasize student success and community engagement.

IUPUI's student body is roughly 30,000, 75% of whom are undergraduates. Nasser says they're addressing the so-called “brain drain” in Indiana. He says 90% of IUPUI graduates remain in Indiana.

Paydar suceeds Charles Bantz who stepped down after 12 years in the position. Paydar served as IUPUI's executive vice chancellor before accepting the new position.
