Johnson County REMC Gets $14M Federal Loan to Improve Grid

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – A south central Indiana rural electric membership corporation will receive a $14 million loan to improve its grid.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Monday that that Johnson County REMC is among four REMCS in as many states that will receive loans to build or improve 1,000 miles of electric transmission and distribution lines.

Johnson County REMC will build or improve 345 miles of lines among other improvements. The loan includes $4.8 million for smart grid projects.
