FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ The longtime editor of The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette says he will retire from the position next month.
Craig Klugman announced Thursday will step down effective Nov. 20 after 33 years as the top newsroom executive. The newspaper reports he will be replaced by Sherry Skufca, who's been its managing editor since 1989.
Klugman's tenure has seen The Journal Gazette win numerous state and national honors, including the Hoosier State Press Association's Blue Ribbon Newspaper of the Year award. He was inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame in 2009.
Journal Gazette Publisher Julie Inskeep says the newspaper couldn't have asked for a better editor or open government advocate.
Klugman graduated from Indiana University and previously worked at the Chicago Sun-Times and Northwestern University.
