INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): We are learning more about what led to Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma’s surprising decision to shift a measure create a state constitutional ban on gay marriage from the Judiciary committee to the House Elections Committee.
According to a Journal-Gazette report, Bosma wasn’t sure it would pass. Specifically he wasn’t sure if Representative Dan Leonard, a Republican from Huntington, would vote to send it to the full house.
The article says Leonard would not reveal his position. That left Bosma unsure it would gain enough votes on the nine-member panel. Bosma says it's a decision the full House should make, and ultimately, Hoosier voters at the ballot box.
