KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WOWO): The mayor of Kendallville is stepping away from her post, at least temporarily.

Mayor Suzanne Handshoe has announced she’s taking a leave of absence to fight cancer. According to the Kendallville News-Sun, Handshoe will be undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer that would likely prevent her from attending certain public meetings and gatherings.

She was elected to a fourth term as Mayor last November.
