Local income tax hike working “as intended”

(Darrin Wright/1190 WOWO 107.5 FM)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County brought in almost $8.8-million in local income taxes last year. That number was revealed at last night’s Fort Wayne City Council meeting.

The Journal Gazette reports almost $6-million went toward alley and sidewalk projects and a little more than $1-million went to riverfront improvements in downtown Fort Wayne, as well as annual maintenance costs.

City Councilman and Fort Wayne Mayoral candidate Dr. John Crawford said the numbers show a 2017 increase to local income taxes is “working as intended,” though he added that some of that funding will shift more toward Riverfront development in future years.
