SCHAUMBURG, ILL. (WOWO): A major defense contract will impact Whitley County. Ultra Electronics announced they've inked a $21 million dollar deal in foreign contracts.

The deal involves the production of Sonobuoys at plants in Florida and Columbia City.

In a press release, the company says about $13 million of it will done locally.

Sonobuoys are used for detecting submarines in both peacetime and combat.

The buyers were not identified.
