Man Strikes Runaway Horse in Kosciusko County

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Just before 6 a.m. Thursday, emergency crews in Kosciusko County responded to a crash on County Road 1350 North near the intersection of County Road 1025 West, where a vehicle collided with a horse.

Once on the scene, they located the driver, 19-year-old Isaac Rosentreter of Bremen, who was said to be in serious condition. He was taken to the hospital with facial injuries and other abrasions.

Police say Rosentreter was driving eastbound when the horse suddenly entered the roadway. Rosentreter reportedly tried to brake, but was unable to avoid hitting the animal, which died upon impact. Officers add it appeared that the horse pushed a watering trough to the side, allowing it to exit a nearby fenced-in area.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.
